Lights Out In Australia

South Australia will face further destruction today as a massive storm continues to lash Adelaide and the rest of the state.

There are thousands of properties without power according to SA Power Networks, despite most areas in Adelaide and the surrounding metropolitan areas having their electricity restored last night …

Huge areas of the state were blacked out, soaked and smashed by destructive winds and golf ball-sized hail as two powerful storms swept across the state from Western Australia yesterday.

Power was slowly being restored Wednesday night as authorities battled an unprecedented statewide electricity blackout, triggering widespread chaos, crippling services and costing tens of millions of dollars.

The decision comes after The Globe and Mail reported that principal secretary Gerald Butts and chief of staff Katie Telford billed taxpayers more than $200,000 to move from Toronto to Ottawa, primarily on real estate and legal fees for their million-dollar homes.

Mr. Butts’s move cost nearly $127,000, while Ms. Telford’s was more than $80,300.
