The Crown and defense submitted a joint sentencing submission of four years. Koch will also be prohibited from driving for a total of 11 years: four years in prison and seven years after his release.

Everyone who commits an offence under paragraph 253(1)(a) and causes the death of another person as a result is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for life.
So how many people have to die to get a drunk driver a life sentence?
