Solyndra’s lawyers major Obama, Democratic donors | The Daily Caller.

Several senior lawyers at law firms that advised the now-failed solar company Solyndra from its beginnings and during the lead-up to its bankruptcy, are major donors to the Democratic Party and President Barack Obama.

During the loan guarantee approval process, law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati represented Solyndra. As the Washington Times reported, the firm skated away with $2.4 million from Solyndra’s coffers before the solar panel manufacturer went bankrupt. Taxpayers wrote that $2.4 million check via the stimulus, or the “Recovery Act.”

Darren Pearson says he had a swell time Monday night, pushing around police officers and intimidating patrons of the Vancouver Club, each of whom had paid $500 to hear former U.S. vice-president Dick Cheney speak. “It was so much fun,” Mr. Pearson said from his home Wednesday. “I can’t tell you how much fun I had. I was laughing my ass off, jumping into that mosh pit.”

And the hapless Vancouver Club employee, whom Mr. Pearson is accused of assaulting with a chokehold? Well, whatever. Mr. Pearson isn’t about to make amends, much less apologize to the man who received minor injuries. Mr. Pearson admits he is the 51-year-old male whom Vancouver police arrested and charged after his alleged attack on the employee Monday night. But he isn’t prepared to discuss that in detail; he’s waiting to speak to a lawyer before his initial court appearance, still to be scheduled.

Gun crime continues to decrease, despite increase in gun ownership | The Daily Caller.

Despite increases in gun ownership, gun crimes continued to decrease in the United States for the fourth straight year in 2010, according to the FBI.

The FBI recently released its Crime in The United States statistics for 2010. Overall, murders in the U.S. have decreased steadily since 2006, dropping from 15,087 to 12,996. Firearms murders — which made up 67 percent of all murders in the U.S. in 2010 — have followed this trend, decreasing by 14 percent.

At the same time that firearms murders were dropping, gun sales were surging.

Turns out Gov. Perdue was actually serious about suspending congressional elections | The Right Scoop.

You have to have more ability from Congress, I think, to work together and to get over the partisan bickering and focus on fixing things.

I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover.

I really hope that someone can agree with me on that.

To solve the serious problems facing our country, we need to minimize the harm from legislative inertia by relying more on automatic policies and depoliticized commissions for certain policy decisions. According to a Washington Post/ABC News survey, his favorability rating among African-Americans has dropped off a cliff, plunging from 83 percent five months ago to a mere 58 percent today — a drop of 25 points, a bit more than a point per week!

Here’s a modest proposal: Name the “protester” accused of throttling an employee of the Vancouver Club where U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney appeared Monday night. Shame him, like the Stanley Cup looters and rioters were shamed. Too rough? Well, if destruction of property and theft warrant anti-riot vigilante websites — which seem better at protecting public interests than some Vancouver police brass and the Crown, to date — then why not an alleged physical assault?

As this Vancouver Sun photograph of the Monday night brouhaha demonstrates, the alleged attacker lunged at the unwitting employee who, after all, was just doing his job, trying to help registered guests enter the private downtown club to hear Mr. Cheney discuss a new book he is promoting. In My Time: A Personal and Political Memoir sounds interesting, not just because Colin Powell has claimed it is riddled with “cheap shots,” or because it has raised the hackles of Condoleezza Rice, another former Secretary of State from the Bush/Cheney administration.
