Smart diplomacy…
Update: Now she sez:
I referenced opinions of others. That was not speaking either for myself or for the administration.
So when I open my yap – nevermind…

NBC’s Matt Lauer to Michele Bachmann:
If there are flickers, as you say, of al Qaeda among the rebels, would it not be a sign to them or showing them that the United States has compassion and we are willing to use our military might to help all people? – NewsBusters

Because Americans don’t get irony…

Do birds trump green power? Ask Obama I guess…
Irony of ironies, wind energy — a preferred form of renewable energy among environmentalists — has animal rights advocates concerned about the hundreds of thousands of birds killed by wind turbines.
On Tuesday an international bird watchdog group based in Spain, Save the Eagles International (STEI), warned that the expected construction of 3.5 million wind turbines worldwide will result in the extinction of a variety of bird species.

They want us freezing in the dark more than one hour a year…
The Obama administration has set a target of having 80 percent of America’s electricity come from “clean energy sources” by 2035, but ironically one of the biggest obstacles to this goal could come from within the environmental movement itself.
From coast to coast, efforts to build everything from wind farms to solar plants has run afoul of local environmental groups and the “Not In My Backyard” (NIMBY) phenomenon. Pro-environmental journals, such as the Vermont Journal of Environmental Law, as well as business groups, such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, have each cataloged this trend.

Future historians, looking back on this era, will marvel at its capacity for linguistic evasion: never speak about a “global war on terror” when you can talk instead about “overseas contingency operations.” Don’t mention “Islamic terrorism” when “anti-Islamic activity” sounds so much nicer. And just the other day, struggling to find the right, i.e., the politically acceptable, i.e., the patently mendacious, words to describe the President’s Excellent Adventure in Libya, Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes proffered this gem: “I think what we are doing is enforcing a resolution that has a very clear set of goals, which is protecting the Libyan people, averting a humanitarian crisis, and setting up a no-fly zone. Obviously that involves kinetic military action, particularly on the front end.” Orwell, or at least the guardians of Newspeak about whom Orwell wrote, would have been proud. – Roger Kimball

I’m sure a lot of people do…
Anthony Weiner said he wanted a waiver from ObamaCare. Now, this is rich because our colleague Anthony Weiner said that he wrote the bill for ObamaCare. In fact, his quote was “the bill and I are one”. Now, if Anthony Weiner wants a waiver, I want mine too. I want a waiver from the last two years of President Obama. Are you with me? – Michele Bachmann
